Great names. Gay is a good name too. A agree with you that we don't have to be saddled with the meanings that people have made up over the years for things that used to be good. A rainbow is one example where I have always hated how the world perverted it's use. I won't dismiss that it was a sign from God of something good coming just because of the worldly use of that symbol.

One of my favorite lines from a movie is "Gay used to be such a happy word" (do you remember what movie?). I think your post is right on target. I don't have to accept any name that the world has put on me because God has given me a new name, and oh what freedom that implies!

The thought comes to mind of Job. After all the things that "did" happened, he still never cursed the Lord. I would assume he thanked God for not only restoring all he had but also for not losing his life.
Good food for thought Mark,
Jim

Sabrina, thanks for leading this song on Sunday. Every time I listen to it, it just brings me such encouragement and stirs up my spirit. Especially the phrase, "When beyond our understanding, You’re teaching us to trust." So many times I find myself in this place, when nothing makes sense, but I know I have to trust in Him because he is faithful and his promises are true. If we could only greet each day with this thought of God's sovereignty and not sweat the small stuff, I think our lives would result in greater peace and contentment.

Mark, thanks for the comment. Great point about the proper position of "here I am, send me" and allowing our schedule to detour us from that answered call. Answering that call directly makes all the difference in the value of the relationship. How many times have I put the relationship on hold because I allowed other things to detour me from pursuing with my all and all. Alot! Time for that to change too! Thanks for sharing.

How true. So many times the sound track of life is a replay of what I perceive are the arrows slung my way. Turning the channel isn't always that easy for me. One of the struggles I have always had is really implementing the 'taking every thought into captivity'. How do you do that? Because we are always thinking. Even when I change the channel, somehow the tunner gets set back to the old station. The old is gone, all things are new only happens with the renewing of the mind. Hmmm.... Yes. Prayer, reading the word, study, fellowship so that iron can indeed sharpen iron, calling on my brothers for an encouraging word when I'm truly stuck on a bad channel or thought pattern. Good post, Sabrina.

Good word Alex. I find myself too often NOT engaged in my relationship with the Lord. Sitting by and not taking steps so that they can be ordered by the Lord. Knowing that something needs to be done, and wondering who is going to take the action necessary to make it happen. Time for that to change. Here I am, send me is a good and proper position to take. How many times have I said that and then when the direction comes, I wait. "I need more clarity", or "Yes, I'm going to do that right after....". Instead of the instantaneous response to my Father, I let me and my schedule get in the way. Again, time for that to change. Good Word.

I can identify with the boundaries. God is a God of order. I am not. So I need God to bring order. Good thing to pray on during this time.
Thanks for the encouraging words,
Pastor Perry

Great post, Alex! I am more often crippled by asking God for TOO LITTLE of what He actually has planned for me. If I go "all-in" during this 21-days set aside to seek Him, I have to also trust that He will stretch me, make me big enough to hold all the goodness He has prepared.

Can we find ourselves FATTER at the end of this fast? You bet! FAT with the fruit of the Spirit of God!
